A dense and varied industrial fabric

The centre of a metropolitan area with 75,000 inhabitants, and the second largest town in Auvergne after Clermont-Ferrand, Vichy has invested heavily in the last fifteen years. More than 400 industrial establishments in many sectors (health, beauty & fitness; plastics; electronics; metallurgy; automotive; agri-food; luxury leather; construction) are distributed across a large number of business parks in the region.

In order to facilitate and optimise the exchange of information with its many partners and suppliers, Vichy Town Hall turned to Oodrive’s iExtranet online file sharing solution. This platform for exchange facilitates sending large files, such as plans or images, easily and securely - a key benefit that traditional email systems do not offer.

Vichy Town Hall’s IT department chose the iExtranet solution following a market analysis and an online demonstration. Sébastien Marillier, Director of IT Systems, stated, “The demonstration of the application convinced us. Its subsequent deployment on site was seamless and swift.”

A brief user training session of just half an hour was all that was needed to master the tool. Since then, “The users get on with using the product without any need for our support!” he added.

iExtranet, in tune with its users’ needs

Freed from the constraints of file size, employees at Vichy Town Hall can now exchange files that may be very voluminous with their suppliers. To enable this, a file sharing space tailored to their needs has been set up.

The users soon took to the iExtranet solution, which has a reputation for being very user friendly and intuitive. They also decided to use a “drag and drop” function, enabling them to upload their files into the Oodrive application simply by moving the mouse.

Their expectations were fulfilled with the launch of iExtranet version 4.0, based entirely on Ajax technology (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML), which met their needs: in the new version, the interface is even more user friendly and content management is easier due to the option to drag and drop files, even within the web platform.

Esteemed for its intuitiveness, users got to grips with iExtranet V4 in just a few minutes. After several years of using iExtranet, employees at Vichy Town Hall are pleased with the iExtranet solution. “We don’t regret our choice and continue to place our trust in this solution, which keeps pace with the times,” concluded Sébastien Marillier, Director of IT Systems.
