In spite of the financial crisis, software publisher Oodrive, specialized in online data backup and sharing, has managed to double its turnover in 2008. Spurred on by these great results, the company is maintaining its objectives for 2009.
2008 balance: first step complete
By achieving an increase in funds of 4 million euros through Iris Capital in November 2007, software publisher Oodrive wanted to strengthen its teams, most importantly R&D, and develop its activities in Europe. It was therefore determined to triple its operations to attain a turnover of 15 million euros and a workforce of over 100 employees during 2008-2009.
So in 2008, Oodrive expanded and structured its teams in order to achieve a workforce of 90 employees by the end of the year. Armed with an executive committee and a product-structured R&D department making up nearly 40% of its staff, Oodrive went on to achieve its first step in its growth objectives.
In November 2008, the company also kicked off its expansion in Europe through the acquisition of company BlueBackUp, market leader for remote backup in Belgium, with complementary solutions to those of the French publisher, both in their services and their platforms.
Today, Oodrive is one of the major players in the northern European market.
Prospects for 2009: continue the efforts...
Empowered by these initial encouraging results, Oodrive continued with its development in order to achieve its initial objective of growth in turnover.
"2008 was a prosperous year for Oodrive: a two-fold increase in turnover, ever more solid and competent teams, a strategic acquisition in Belgium... We hope in 2009 to continue this momentum as we are aware that during this period of economic decline, we need to continue to invest and structure our organization to consolidate our position as SaaS market leader." explained Stanislas de Rémur, CEO and co-founder of Oodrive.
The publisher therefore decided to continue expanding its activities in Europe with the ambitious project of two new European acquisitions by the end of the year.
Oodrive is also focused on developing the cooperation between its direct and indirect points of sale in order to increase its overall commercial productivity. Empowered by its network of over 750 resellers, the company has therefore chosen this year to press indirect sales for the commercialization of its online file sharing solutions, both by reinforcing the support it provides for its AdBackup resellers (a managed remote backup service), with the 2009 launch of a personalized certification program, comprising various types of support (formats, regional support, through to emoluments and co-marketing budgets).
"Today, more than ever, our clients require innovative solutions to enhance their productivity and security but with minimal financial investment," explained Stanislas de Rémur. In order to to achieve the highest level of client satisfaction possible, Oodrive, pioneers of the SaaS model, therefore leans toward the most appropriate method of distribution and on an offer of ever richer and more innovative software: this year foresees the launch of AdBackup V5 along with three new products: Postfiles; Médiathèque; and DataRoom!
Finally, following the success of the partnerships set up in 2008 with Darty and Orange to address the large European general market, Oodrive has also decided to consolidate its policy of building strategic partnerships. A hinge partnership has therefore been set up to develop alliances with major players OEM, FAI, and the large European general market.
