After conquering Northern Europe, Oodrive now has its sights set on Southern Europe via the Spanish-speaking market and is opening an office in Madrid.
Oodrive seeks to capture the heart of Spain!
Riding high on the success of its solutions in Northern Europe and reassured by encouraging trends in the Spanish market, the Oodrive Group is opening a branch in Madrid.
The first objective of Oodrive's Spanish branch will be to build the network of resales partners in the Iberian region in order to sell AdBackup, the publisher's online file backup solution; the medium-term objective will then be to incorporate the file sharing and online collaboration solutions published by Oodrive into its product range.
Thierry Le Divenach will be responsible for managing the branch. "We are delighted to appoint Thierry Le Divenach as manager for our Spanish office. Thierry has an excellent knowledge of the Spanish IT market, having been one of the pioneers in the development of SaaS online backup solutions in Spain," states Stanislas de Rémur, Managing Director of the Oodrive Group.
Despite the crisis, a recent study by IDC España identified positive signs of market growth for SaaS (Software as a Service) solutions, for which the Oodrive Group is Europe's leader. In fact, the Spanish market is showing an increasing interest in this type of solution, which could triple in number in companies between now and 2012.
"Since 2007, having been encouraged by the legal requirement to back up electronic data externally (Ley Orgánica de Protección de Datos), Spanish companies have been interested in online backup. Initially skeptical, these companies are now increasingly convinced by the effectiveness of the SaaS mode for the external protection of their electronic data. The market is currently dominated by two major players in Spain. The Oodrive Group will thus be challenging them by offering an opportunity to Iberian companies, who so desire, to benefit from technologies recognised in Northern Europe at a lower cost, thanks to the SaaS mode. The first objective for Oodrive Spain will be to develop an Iberian network of IT specialists, resellers for the AdBackup solution, in order to introduce Oodrive into the market" explains Thierry Le Divenach, Manager of Oodrive Spain.
The Oodrive Group is pursuing its growth objectives
In 2009, the Oodrive Group continued to strengthen and structure its teams, increasing its workforce to more than 100 employees. With an R&D department that currently employs 40% of its workforce, the Oodrive Group has made the first step towards its growth objectives.
In November 2008, the company had already given an initial response regarding its desire to expand in Europe by acquiringthe BlueBackUp company, Belgium's leader in remote backup, whose solutions complement those of the French publisher, by their services and technology platforms. Today, Oodrive is one of the key players in the Northern European market.
The Oodrive Group has thus chosen to maintain its course on extending its activities with this ambitious development project in Southern Europe and Spanish-speaking countries.
"Selling our solutions in Spain was a natural choice. In fact, our business model, based on the SaaS mode and on a shared infrastructure, enables us to export our multilingual solutions both rapidly and effectively all around the world. In addition, forecasts for the Spanish markets are optimistic. Therefore, it is essential for us to open a Spanish office, and all the more so because Spain is the best starting point from which to make moves to conquer all the Spanish-speaking countries!" declares Stanislas de Rémur, Managing Director of the Oodrive Group. "Creating this branch is our first step towards conquering the Spanish market. In fact, we might consider acquiring an Iberian company in order to reach an essential size and thus more quickly become a major player in this market," he concludes.
