Oodrive opts for Akamai's services and exceeds top speeds!

Oodrive has decided to utilise Akamai's Web Acceleration Solutions, so as to optimise transfer times of its customers files to all destinations far and wide. Designed especially for businesses working with subsidiaries, customers or partners abroad, the Akamai solution enables file transfer speeds to be tripled or even quadrupled, depending on where partners are situated around the world.

Established in 1995, Akamai now plays a vital role in the transmission of information content from suppliers to consumers. The company creates a digital operating environment for the web. Its global platform, consisting of thousands of servers, helps the Internet to withstand the heavy demands of daily requests for rich content. When processing these requests, Akamai detects and bypasses vulnerable points and other Internet problems to ensure the continued and optimal functionality of websites.

Always ready to listen to its customers and with the prime objective of offering them increasingly high-performance solutions as well as an unrivalled quality of service, even on the opposite side of the globe, Oodrive has decided to work with the solutions provided by Akamai, in order to optimise its web-based file sharing and collaborative working solutions (PostFiles and iExtranet).

Indeed, for customers "on the other side of the world", the geographical distance and the frequently overloaded Internet network can lead to a slowing down of access to Oodrive's online platforms and to the data contained on them. Transmission of large files can also be slowed down.

It is for this reason that Oodrive has decided to utilise the "Akamai Web Accelerator" and "Akamai Fast File Upload" products. Thus, depending on where someone is located in the world, implementing these solutions can triple the speed at which web pages are displayed. They can also enable files to be transferred in a quarter of the time.

"Oodrive's clients include a number of international companies. It was therefore essential to optimise our online iExtranet and PostFiles solutions to make them faster and more effective, thereby satisfying the client. This project has been developed for the European region, where the Oodrive Group is now very well-established, but it is equally relevant for the regions of Asia and the United States, where we have a number of clients and where we intend to broadly develop our market share in 2010", explains Edouard de Rémur, Oodrive Sales Director.

"We are delighted to add Oodrive to our list of customers who publish solutions in SaaS mode. Our customers require faster and faster Internet access that is reliable and secure, which makes Akamai an essential player to ensure and further improve the quality of service provided by our SaaS customers to their own customers," stresses Christopher Wiltberger, Major Account Executive d'Akamai.
